Why memory matters for uncensored chat
Long-form roleplay and storytelling require the model to remember character details, plot points, and user preferences across dozens of exchanges. A model that forgets your character's name after 12 turns breaks immersion. A model that confuses two characters mid-scene is unusable for serious creative work.
Most "best NSFW AI chat" lists ignore memory entirely. Our benchmark measures it directly.
How we test memory
- A fixed persona and scenario are loaded into the system prompt.
- The user introduces three named facts across the first four turns.
- At turns 4, 8, 16, and 24, the model is asked to recall each fact.
- We test both plot facts (events that happened) and preference facts (stated likes and dislikes).
- We also inject a false memory at turn 12 and test whether the model resists or adopts it.
Each model runs three samples. Scores reflect consistency across runs, not best-case performance.
What the scores mean
- 15/15: Perfect recall at 24 turns with no false-memory adoption.
- 10–14: Minor omissions or one missed fact at 24 turns.
- 5–9: Significant memory gaps beyond 8 turns.
- 0–4: Amnesia-level performance; unreliable for sessions longer than a few exchanges.
Models with strong memory characteristics
Based on architecture alone, larger context windows and higher parameter counts correlate with better recall. Models with 128K+ context and 70B+ parameters (like Hermes 3 405B and Euryale 70B) have the hardware capacity for strong memory performance. Smaller models can still perform well if they are fine-tuned for long-context adherence. Live scores will confirm or refute these architectural expectations.
